China Datang Chairman Lyu Jun paid a visit to President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan in Baku on November 12th, local time, during his working visit to Azerbaijan.

Lyu expressed his admiration for the Azerbaijani government's forward-looking planning in pursuing a green and low-carbon energy transition. He extended his gratitude to President Aliyev for his care and support regarding the development of China Datang's projects in Azerbaijan.

China Datang is actively implementing the strategic plans laid out by the two heads of state and deeply engaging in the Belt and Road Initiative, Lyu noted, adding that by leveraging its technical and managerial strengths, the corporation is committed to supporting Azerbaijan in building a green energy hub connecting Europe and Asia.

Aliyev spoke highly of China Datang's contributions to Azerbaijan's energy development, stressing that Azerbaijan is fully committed to diversifying its energy structure.

China Datang's extensive experience in the green energy sector will provide crucial support for Azerbaijan in achieving its green energy development goal, Aliyev said. The Azerbaijani government will offer support for China Datang's development in the country, he said, expressing the hope that China Datang will set a new benchmark for energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and China.

Following the meeting, Lyu held separate talks with Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Economy, and Parviz Shahbazov, Minister of Energy, to discuss project development and cooperation matters.

Lyu thanked the two ministries for their support of China Datang's development in Azerbaijan. He stated that building on its own strengths and responding to Azerbaijan's needs for green energy industry development, China Datang will actively advance the implementation of major strategic energy projects in the country.

Jabbarov thanked China Datang for its contributions to Azerbaijan's economic and social development and expressed that further support would be provided for China Datang to deepen its development and practical cooperation in Azerbaijan.

Shahbazov commended the positive outcomes achieved by China Datang in integrating into Azerbaijan's energy transition and stated that the Energy Ministry would fully promote the accelerated implementation of relevant strategic projects.

Chairman Lyu and Minister Shahbazov also witnessed the signing of a project cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan, Datang Overseas Investment Co., Ltd. (CDTO) and the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR).

During his stay in Azerbaijan, Lyu also inspected the Baku solar power project and the Caspian Sea offshore wind power project, and learned about project operation from the on-site teams.

He urged the teams working in Azerbaijan to uphold the philosophy of green development and win-win cooperation, seize development opportunities in the country, meticulously formulate development plans, support Azerbaijan's green and low-carbon transition, and contribute to the international expansion of the corporation.

The aforementioned activities were also attended by Li Jianwei, Vice President of China Datang, Assistant President of China Datang, and senior executives of relevant departments and CDTO.
