Lyu Jun Attends BRICS Business Forum and BRICS Business Council Annual Meeting in Brazil

The 2025 BRICS Business Forum convened in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on July 5, with a focus on advancing greater BRICS cooperation. Discussions revolved around topics such as sustainable development, food security, energy transition, and the digital economy.

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva attended and addressed the opening ceremony. Attendees included government officials, business representatives, scholars, experts from think tanks, and delegates from international organizations representing BRICS countries.

Lyu Jun, Chairman of China Datang, who is also a member of the Chinese Chapter of BRICS Business Council(BBC), participated in the opening ceremony and related activities, including the BBC’s Annual Meeting and the Meeting of the Chinese Chapter of the Council.

On July 4, at the BBC’s Annual Plenary Meeting, Lyu, along with representatives from other Council Chapters, reviewed and approved the BRICS Business Council 2025 Annual Report. They also received reports on yearly progress from all nine working groups. As the Chinese member unit of the Energy, Green Economy and Climate Working Group, China Datang actively contributed to the group's report and proposed actionable recommendations.

Lyu attended the second plenary meeting of the Chinese Chapter on the same day. The session reviewed highlights of the Chapter’s 2025 work and the performance of member units while outlining future priorities.

Addressing the meeting, Lyu stated that China Datang would fully leverage its role under the Chapter’s coordination, actively participate in key Council activities, and advance practical cooperation in energy and power among BRICS nations for substantial development with a focus on energy transition and green development.

Lyu also engaged in discussions with Robson Campos, Executive Vice President of Eletrobras (Centrais Elétricas Brasileiras S.A.) on July 4, exchanging views on green and low-carbon transition and the development of new energy markets.

Lyu emphasized that China Datang is implementing the consensus between Chinese and Brazilian leaders to build a China-Brazil community with a shared future for a more just world and a more sustainable planet, while promoting high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. China Datang attaches great importance to the Brazilian market and seeks to enhance communication, leverage complementary strengths, explore renewable energy partnerships, and share expertise in new energy technology and talent development to elevate practical bilateral energy cooperation under the BRICS framework, he added.

Robson Campos commended China Datang’s achievements in green transition, noting that both countries have enjoyed a solid foundation for energy and power cooperation, and opened up broader prospects for cooperation in energy and power sectors thanks to the head-of-state diplomacy. He expressed Eletrobras’ desire to establish a communication mechanism with China Datang, explore collaboration models, and seize development opportunities in the clean energy industry and energy technology research to achieve mutual benefits, and drive sustainable development in Brazil's energy and power sector.

Senior executives from relevant departments of China Datang participated in the above events.
