2007 was a year in which we felt particularly glorious and proud of ourselves. President Hu Jintao paid visits to the power plants affi liated to China Datang Corporation (CDT) twice. He fully affi rmed our work and put forward higher requirements for CDT’s future development, which greatly inspired us.

2007 was a year which witnessed a more prominent growth of CDT in terms of operation and development. The installed capacity of CDT exceeded 60,000MW. The first batch of units of Longtan Hydropower Project was put into operation ahead of schedule, making it the second largest in-service hydropower station in China and elevating the proportion of hydropower in the total to the highest level CDT had ever met since establishment. The installed capacity of CDT’s wind power surpassed 1,000MW and CDT successfully built the largest wind farm in the world. Breakthroughs were realized in developing coal mine projects as holding party and directly making investment in overseas power generation projects.

2007 was a year in which CDT’s social infl uence became wider and deeper. CDT played a leading role in implementing the national policy of setting up large capacity units and shutting down small capacity units by materializing the fi rst explosion nationwide and several fi rst explosions in such provinces as Shaanxi,Shanxi, Heilongjiang, Hunan, Anhui and Guangxi. CDT all together shut down 82 units with total capacity of 4,114.2MW, covering 28% of the total shut down nationwide, which ranked the top among our counterparts in terms of shutting down capacity. Release of the first Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report and organization of the first Enterprise Cultural Festival and Open-to-the-public Day of Enterprise fully demonstrated our philosophy and practices in consciously performing CSR, our concentric culture and staff members’ vitality.

Within the year, we insisted on leading the overall situation with scientifi c outlook on development, strictly implemented the national macro-control policy and electric power industrial policy, seriously carried out the working thinking of “upholding the two strategies, fulfi lling the two commitments, constructing the two-type enterprise and promoting the two enhancements”, met the requirements of “economical year” in an all-round way, successfully accomplished the production and operation targets and various tasks of the year, and all the work was stridden to a new stage and the comprehensive strength of CDT was prominently improved.

By the end of 2007, the installed capacity of CDT reached 64,823.4MW and the assets totaled 294.9 billion yuan. In 2007, the power generation amounted to 304.757 billion kWh, the sales revenue hit 85.045 billion yuan, the total profi t achieved 7.562 billion yuan and the overall labor productivity was 449,500 yuan/person/year, which respectively increased by 171.82%, 214.73%, 159.48%, 211.52%, 253.2% and 168.03% compared to those of 2002 when CDT was established. All these achievements could not be made without the close attention and great support from relevant governmental authorities and all walks of life and the hard work of 80,000 staff. Therefore, I am here to extend my sincerest thanks for them.

2008 is the year to launch Beijing Olympic Games as well as the key year for CDT to realize the goal of becoming a Fortune Top 500 company by 2010. We will continuously carry forward the pragmatic, harmonious, concentric and spanning Enterprise Spirit, make unremitting efforts to scale the heights of power industry and supply ampler and cleaner energy products so as to help fulfi ll the successful holding of the Olympic Games and make greater contribution to the development of national economy and the career of building harmonious society.
